About Olivia
In my artistic journey, I delve into the intricate interplay between theology, deconstruction, and what it means to be human, weaving together a tapestry of ideas through various mediums. As a multidisciplinary artist and theologian, I find myself constantly drawn to the realms of thought and spirituality, seeking to unravel the profound connections that exist between these seemingly disparate realms.
My work is a dialogue navigating the contours of faith, belief, and skepticism. Regardless of the background we all have a set of glasses we see the world through. I want to invite the viewer into opportunities to see things from different perspectives. My work is an invitation of permission.
Juxtaposition of all Things
Using different mediums, I invite participants to doubt established notions and question the layers of meaning that underlie our understanding of the world. As I engage with the tenets of theology and culture, I explore the nuanced ways in which human experiences and convictions shape our ethical compass. Our human experience.
The very act of creation becomes a contemplative practice, wherein I channel my questions and reflections into each stroke, form, or composition. Those interacting with each piece are not just bystanders but invited to become a member of the congregation. My pieces invite viewers to engage in a dialogue with the profound, the ambiguous, and the ordinary. I seek to evoke introspection and discourse, to encourage a deep examination of the underpinnings of our beliefs and the structures that shape our moral fabric.
Through my multidisciplinary approach, I create painting, mixed media, graphic design, installation/sculpture, photography, and film to create immersive experiences. I intend to bridge the gap between the intellectual and the emotional, to show how our tangible worlds are possibly more spiritual than we think.
With every piece, I invite audiences to embark on a journey of self-discovery, to unearth their own convictions and question the boundaries defining our understanding of embodiment. My art serves as a conduit for exploration, encouraging a continuous dialogue that transcends the boundaries of disciplines and invites individuals to grapple with the complex interplay of belief, doubts, and our humanity in the tapestry of human experience.
